Notes about Attendance

Regarding Absences:

All students are expected to participate for all three days of intersession as defined by the BHS Student Handbook.  Should extenuating circumstances occur, please contact school administration.

For Concord Vocational Students:

Students who attend CRVTC  are expected to participate in Intersession and these 3 days are excused by Concord and will not count as part of the 4 days absent per quarter, allowed. If a CRVTC student does not particpate in an Intersession they are expected to attend their classes at CRVTC, if not they will be considered absent which will count towards the 4 days per quarter.

Regarding Athletics:

Students should be aware that intersession can impact sports.  Although a student is not athletically penalized  for participation in intersession, students need to consider the implications of extended trips.  Intersession running every spring poses schedule isssues for athletic teams and students who are often committed to an intersession before they see their team's schedule. We already have a vacation after the game season begins and often the prom creates issues and academic trips like Belize that leave early break the team bond and weaken teams when they play. The biggest hurdle is when trips leave early for better flight prices as the schedule model is already completed. Mr. Kaufman, BHS Athletic Director, does not schedule Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday of intersession, or during the first 3 days of vacation which happen to follow intersession. Those changes make our teams play compacted schedules with limited rest and recovery for student athletes.
